The disposal end of running a fleet is almost as important as the procurement end. This is the time when we truly understand the TCO (Total Cost of Ownership). So maximising the return on a vehicle is absolutely a key task in fleet management.
For purchased vehicles, we ensure we are returning the maximum for a vehicle by partnering with auction houses in the UK, offering vehicles within our network (thus removing the margins from the dealer), selling vehicles through private sale methods as well as simply part exchanging the vehicles with the dealer selling the new ones.
For hired vehicles, we consider the costs that may be incurred when returning a vehicle to a finance house so inspections can be carried out on vehicles and documentation. From there rectification work necessary is organised to minimise the costs when returned. By controlling this process the total cost of hire can be reduced by as much as 22%.
We also consider in the disposal process any equipment that may need to be transferred to the new vehicle, so making sure vehicles are available for transfers but with the least amount of downtime possible is our priority.
